As I have surveyed multiple communities in rural underserved South Alabama, it has become clear to me that parents are at a high risk of losing their children to a broken system. However, in these communities, I have also witnessed the power of dedicated individuals who are making a difference in the lives of children. These directors are working tirelessly to meet the basic needs of children, nurture them towards a brighter future, and promote upward mobility. They embody the principle of compassion, providing a holistic approach that addresses the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of residents.
